Hey, gang! Wow, it's been a while. It's been an absolutely insane summer! I'm very happy (exhaustedly happy) to say that I've had a gig almost every day this summer – whether I'm at Molson Amphitheatre DJ'ing every single show of the season, spinning at tons different bars around the city of Toronto to providing the tunes for half a dozen weddings... needless to say I've been a busy bee. Click here to check out my DJ Blush page, btw. September is here already which means I get to kick back a little bit. Won't complain about that! So nice to have a little time to throw together a new Things I Love Friday! TGIF, MOTHER FUCKERS.
1. NEW BUSINESS CARD DAY!
There's nothing quite like picking up a fresh batch of business cards! Thank you to my favourite printers in the city of Toronto, Media Express Printing. Always top notch.
I love this store. They have a tiny one in Dufferin Mall and I swear every time I walk in there I come out with something awesome. Not to mention they carry brands that are pretty good quality compared to my usual Forever 21/H&M places where the stuff falls apart. Here's a wicked bag from Truth Be Told and a nice big hat I grabbed today – grabbed both for $60! It's a staple place, I tell ya.
3. COUNTING DOWN TO HALLOWEEN (49 DAYS, BITCH)
September is here so quickly... how sad how fast the summer has past! But at least we have Halloween to look forward to... I even found a website for screw-balls like me who always wanna be on the big Hallows'eve countdown; check it out here. Anyway, I was going through some old photos of past Halloween costumes I've done in the past. Working almost every Halloween the last five years allowed me to try out some cool ideas, but they just weren't always quite to their potential considering everything I wanted to do I had to keep in mind that I was gonna have to use headphones, hah! But this year I've decided I'm taking Halloween off and partying, which means I can go all-out on my costume. I've been everything from Betty Boop to Wednesday Addams, Peggy Bundy to Olive Oil, a slice of pizza, Bart's crush Laura Powers to my fiance Jesse. Not to mention I've been Lydia Deetz about 30,000 times. And that's where I'm thinking of going back to, people. My roots. Beetlejuice. Here's a little photo collection of some of those costumes.
4. HALLOWEEN COSTUME IDEAS
As I was saying, I'm thinking of heading back to my Halloween roots... that, of course being, my favourite movie of all time – Beetlejuice! And this time I'm not doing Lydia, I'm gonna be the secretary in the waiting room to the after life – Miss Argentina! Gonna have to buy out the damn costume store of all the green paint. IT'S WORTH IT.
5. HAVING JESSE HOME
It's been a long-ass year and a half since Jesse left to tour with Comeback Kid. Love those guys! Jesse's home now and focusing on playing shows with his band No Warning for the first time in 10 years. Couldn't be more proud, and it's so nice to have him around more. We gotta start planning the wedding!
